Christmas is celebrated throughout the world by Christians. They say that the celebrate it for the birth of Jesus. But Christmas really doesn't have anything to do with Jesus. In fact it is nothing more than a Pagan festival !
The legend of Santa Clause originated from Pagan customs. The history of Santa Clause begins with a man named Saint Nickoles. He was said to come from a rich family and posses magical powers. The modern day version of Santa Clause comes from a cartoonist in the 1860's. Santa Clause has become the most important Christian tradition but it has nothing to do with Jesus!
The Christmas tree and the lights that you see in and outside people's houses also originated from Pagan customs. The concept of the Christmas tree started in Egypt and then was carried on by the Romans. For many a decorated Christmas tree symbolized the tree of life in the garden of Eden. We should not believe in this because there is no tree of life in the garden of Eden! The moderate practice of decorating buildings with lights originates froma Pagan custom of lighting fires and candles during the solstice season, to encourage the son god as he reached the lowest point in the sky. Of course we don't believe in this because we know there is no son god.
The exchanging of Christmas presents is another important Pagan custom that the Christians have adopted. The exchanging of gifts does not have anything to do at all with Jesus. Christians don't even celebrate Christmas on the night month! The exact day of the birth of Jesus Christ is not known but his birthday is most probaly in September not December. Even Christans themselves wonder the question " If god had intended us to celebrate the birthday of Jesus, why then didin't he reveal the exact date of his birth to us in the Scriptures?" December 25 was chosen by the Pagans because it was already a holiday celebrated in ancient times. Christians say that December 25 is the birthday of Jesus Christ but it is nothing more than a Pagan holiday!
The Christmas star, Christmas stockings, and the mistletoe are all pagan customs. The mistletoe was used at festivals by Pagans because it was believed to be sacred to the sun and have miraculous healing powers. Christmas stockings originated from a Pagan tale. The tale says that a Saint threw a piece of gold into the stockings of three girls that needed the money to get married. The christmas star originated when Pagans looked upon stars as Gods and created myths about them. All of these things are related to Pagans and have nothing to do about Jesus!
So as you can see Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus. It's not even celebrated in the right month! The things that Christians talk most about - Santa Claus, the Christmas tree, the house decorations, the exchanging of gifts, the Christmas star, the stockings, and the mistletoe have nothing to do with Jesus at all. Christmas is not a Christian holiday infact it is nothing more than Pagan customs. This is exactly why, we, as Muslims, should not celebrate or even take part in anything to do with Christmas!
